Chief Marketing Officer

Job Overview

The Chief Marketing Officer supports the mission of the Lincoln Children’s Museum by managing and guiding the implementation of clearly defined marketing and communications strategies that support consistent revenue growth and enhance Museum brand equity and awareness. The Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for establishing annual plans and budgets across marketing and communication platforms and coordinating various communications activities that advance the Museum mission, strategic plan, brand, and reputation and support revenue generation. Additionally, the Chief Marketing Officer serves on the leadership team, collaborating closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Development Officer, and Chief Operating Officer to ensure cohesive strategy and alignment across all facets of the organization. This position contributes to the overall direction of the Museum and is responsible for aligning the department’s goals and initiatives.

Essential Functions

Marketing

  • Develop a comprehensive plan for organizational marketing and communications efforts.
  • Create and manage a department budget and organizational revenue forecasting.
  • Set goals, build strategies, and identify resources necessary to achieve objectives for overall attendance, group sales, and education programs.
  • Coordinate and execute an annual communication calendar utilizing relevant tactics and best practices.
  • Monitor attendance trends; analyze sales and marketing metrics. Conduct periodic reviews of marketing goals.
  • Ensure that the Museum regularly conducts relevant market research and uses market research for planning.
  • Advance the Museum’s mission and program initiatives in the community and museum field.
  • Continually build and maintain partnerships with community organizations.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the Museum and overall brand manager.

Development

  • Maintenance of records and current recognition of donors in all LCM publications and stewardship programs
  • Provides support, including promotional support, management of auction items, ticket sales, sponsor stewardship, and on-site support during events.
  • Assist with the implementation of the donor/sponsor cultivation plan.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for a multimedia specialist’s overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. It fulfills supervisory responsibilities following the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Required

  • Passion for the mission, vision, and values of the Lincoln Children’s Museum
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar roles of increasing responsibility and leadership
  • Must be goal-oriented and able to manage multiple projects/tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Must be able to speak in public, sometimes in front of large groups.
  • Must be comfortable in relating to people in unfamiliar situations.
  • Comprehensive management skills and experience are required, including but not limited to short and long-term planning, evaluation, directing, and motivating staff.
  • Effective communicator – timely and appropriate in written and spoken communications.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to organize the work of self and others.
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, CRM systems, and creative design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Flexible, creative, collaborative, willing to learn new things, open to receiving feedback, and able to respect divergent viewpoints.
  • Strong customer service orientation and willingness to assist others.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

  • Sedentary work- occasionally lifting and carrying up to but not to exceed twenty pounds. Primarily indoor work – may be exposed to some outdoor elements and hazards.

Time Commitment

  • This role requires on-site presence during regular business hours a minimum of four days per week and occasional evenings and weekends, as needed. Flexibility for one remote workday may be considered.

Salary & Benefits

  • The salary range for this position is $80,000–$110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Lincoln Children’s Museum offers full-time employee benefits to include:

Cafe Associate

Job Overview

Café Workers support the mission of the Lincoln Children’s Museum by attending the dietary needs of children and adults when they visit and participate in activities within the Museum. Communicates effectively with administrative staff, other associates, volunteers and Museum patrons.

Must be available

  • Wednesday and Friday 10:30am to 3:30am
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday evening 5-7pm (sometimes later) for Ultimate Birthday Parties as they are booked.
  • Additional shifts are potentially available on the weekends and after hours for Museum private event rentals and program as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Available and willing to work Wednesday, Friday, Ultimate parties Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, special events, holidays, school holiday breaks and other shifts as needed, as well as special cleaning days
  • Greet and welcome all guests that visit the Café
  • Work in the kitchen area preparing food
  • Work at the front counter helping customers through the ordering process
  • Ability to open and close cash drawers successfully without error, know what to do if the drawers are not even at the end of the day
  • Ability to problem solve and answer basic questions as they arise without having to default to the manager.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and uphold food safety rules. Follow the daily cleaning schedule and maintain special storage areas.
  • Read updates and be able to implement any changes within the Café.
  • Punctual and dependable. Ability to follow instruction from manager, and complete tasks in a timely, efficient manner as assigned.
  • Maintain a positive ongoing relationship with peers.
  • Support other departments as necessary
  • Know how to find the price of each item, where extra items are stored and how to check inventory, be familiar with the stocking of merchandise and where products are located so they can be restocked.
  • Attend all relevant staff meetings.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

  • Active work-lifting and/or carrying up to but not to exceed 50 pounds occasionally, lifting and/or carrying up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Work also includes climbing, crouching, crawling, walking, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time.

Qualifications

  • A minimum education level of high school diploma preferred. Customer service within the food service industry experience preferred.
  • Must be organized, dependable, flexible and reliable.
  • Must be able to work Wednesday, Friday and Ultimate café shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Some Sunday AM’s possible.
  • Self-motivated and willing to take on multiple tasks at any given time. Ability to handle critical and emergency situations calmly and effectively. Must be outgoing and have friendly personality.

Weekend and Ultimate Playologist

Job Overview

Playologists support the mission of the Lincoln Children’s Museum by initiating visitor engagement through on-floor programming, Tinker Theater hands-on learning activities, and by facilitating Birthday Parties and Private Events. This position initiates unique experiences and interacts with children and adults; attending to their needs as they interact with exhibits and participate in activities within the Museum.

Must be available the following shifts:

  • Saturday between 8:30am -5:30pm
  • Sunday between 10:30am -5:30pm
  • Ultimate Parties on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 4:30pm to 8:30 and Sunday AM 8am-11:30am (as scheduled)
  • Additional shifts are available during the week Wednesday – Friday and after hours for Museum private event rentals and programs.

Essential Functions

  • Welcome all patrons that enter the building. Sell admission tickets and memberships. Answer visitor questions effectively.
  • Initiate play with children and their caregivers within exhibits.
  • Assist with birthday parties and private events: set up, clean up, welcome guest as they arrive and help with other various needs
  • Ability to problem solve and answer basic questions as they arise without having to default to the manager.
  • Punctual and dependable. Ability to follow instructions from a manager and complete tasks in a timely, efficient manner as assigned.
  • Available and willing to work evenings, special events, holidays, weekends/breaks, and other shifts as needed, as well as special cleaning days.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to specific volunteer, guest, and co-worker information as it pertains to the museum.
  • Maintain a positive ongoing relationship with peers.
  • Support other departments as necessary with set up, clean up, etc.
  • Contribute to museum standards of upkeep of the museum’s interior environment and exhibits in a way that promotes the power of play.
  • Be familiar with how all exhibits operate. Notice when guests do not know how to operate exhibits and take the initiative to show them how the exhibits work.
  • Attend all relevant staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the People & Special Projects Manager and/or Chief Operations Officer

After School Program Facilitator

Job Overview

After School/Camp Program Facilitators support the mission of the Lincoln Children’s Museum by facilitating engaging hands-on, minds-on after school activities in Lincoln Public School, at the Museum and other community facilities.

Preferred Availability:

  • Individuals must have availability between 2:30-5:30pm fall/winter/spring and between 7:00am-5:00pm during the summer.
  • Hours may range from 10-25/week

Qualifications

  • Lincoln Children’s Museum is seeking candidates that are energetic, self-motivated, dependable, and have a desire to work with children.
  • High school graduate with some college study and/or post-high school work experience.
  • Education major/minors and/or previous experience working with children aged 5-12 is preferred.
  • Exhibit leadership, enthusiasm, maturity, compassion, responsibility, flexibility, and initiative.
  • Good communication skills are a must; staff works directly with children, parents, after school site coordinators, Director of Operations & Engagement, volunteers and interns.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitate and instruct educational programs on a weekly basis.
  • Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety.
  • Adapt program activities to work with a variety of ages and learning styles.
  • Be sensitive to the needs of student participants and attend to them promptly.
  • Address parent/guardian concerns and respond to accidents quickly.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations & Engagement Manager and Chief Operations Officer
