How far in advance must a field trip be booked?
At least two days in advance. Failure to provide two-day notice will add $1.50 ($7.00) per person to the Field Trip rate. 30 days in advance is recommended due to the limited number of field trip reservations available each day. Groups coming in May should book as early as possible, as those end of year dates fill quickly.
Can field trips be booked any day of the week?
Yes, field trips can be booked any day that the Museum is open. We encourage large groups to book on a Monday to provide an optimal experience for both the group and our museum guests.
Can teachers visit the Museum before the field trip?
Yes. We encourage educators and group leaders to come in prior to your group’s visit to explore the Museum. This is a good opportunity to learn about the exhibits, plan your outing and have the chance to prepare curriculum for your visit.
Is there a place to eat lunch?
Rooms are available to rent for groups to eat lunch. The cost in $40/hour per room and must be scheduled in advance. On nice days, there are options for picnic spots in the surrounding area.
Is there a cancellation fee?
Not if made at least two days prior to your scheduled visit. Groups that fail to cancel/reschedule or do not show up will be billed a $10 cancellation fee. Cancellations due to unexpected school closures may be rescheduled.
Do teachers receive any special discounts?
Educators receive a 10% discount on regular-priced merchandise in the Museum Toy Store located in the lobby.
Is there bus parking available?
Students arriving in buses will be able to unload in front of the Museum. Information on downtown parking is provided on the field trip confirmation document.
