The Lincoln Children’s Museum Code of Conduct
The Lincoln Children’s Museum (LCM) is committed to serving all families in a safe and inclusive environment. The health, safety, and well-being of all who come through our doors is a top priority. The museum expects everyone to abide by the letter and spirit of all its rules and guidelines.
Be welcoming – The museum is committed to diversity and inclusion. We value and respect our diverse guests, volunteers, and staff, and expect the same from our guests.
Be courteous – Please refrain from generally disruptive behavior. Please refrain from climbing, sitting, or standing on railings or barricades. Respect museum exhibits and facilities, and the experiences of other visitors. Courteous, respectful behavior is expected of everyone. Please follow the posted signs and instructions from the museum staff.
Children only – The museum is designed for children under age 12 to play. All children must be accompanied by someone aged 16 or older. No adults are allowed without a child, and no children are allowed without an adult.
Dress appropriately for fun and safety – Shoes and shirts are required for all guests visiting the museum.
Respect each other’s privacy – Any videos, photographs, or recordings taken on museum property should be for private, noncommercial use only. No photography is permitted of children or families who are not part of your personal group.
Engagement with property and others – Use Museum equipment and exhibits safely and appropriately. Any action or behavior that threatens the safety of another guest (child or adult), or damages LCM property is prohibited.
Prohibited items – no outside food or drinks, no pets (service animals permitted), no smoking/vaping, no alcohol, no firearms (law enforcement personnel excepted), weapons (including knives, pepper spray, and stun guns/tasers), toy guns, no shoes/skates/riding toys with wheels, or any other items deemed by museum staff to be dangerous or inappropriate in a public setting.
Waiver of Liability
By entering LCM, you agree, on behalf of yourself and any minor children accompanying you, to voluntarily assume all risk, include that of personal injury (including death) or illness, risk of exposure to communicable disease, or the risk of lost stolen or damaged property, arising from or related to your entry into the museum and participation in activities on museum property. By assuming this risk, you agree that LCM is not responsible for any such injury or illness, property damage, or other loss, and the museum is released and discharged from such liability to the fullest extent of the law.
